Letter from T.E. Forster from C.E. Baldwin re Blyth & Bedlington Councils
T.E. Forster requests: Section 11. Ask that roadway from H.W.M. To bridge be maintained by Commissioners in perpetuity and roadway from H.W.M. On Blyth side to junction with existing highway to be maintained by Commissioners for 5 years. Section 33. Ask for this section be deleted or definition of passengers personal luggage be inserted. Schedule. Consider maximum tolls too high. Bill contains no guantee for passenger service to continue. Clause for continuance to be inserted. Think that after bridge cost wth interest has been redeemed bridge should be declared free. Request for maximum weight of traffic be determined by Messrs Sandeman before next meeting. Letter in reply from C.E. Baldwin regarding points raised. Letter from J.Watt Sandeman stating that the proposed bridge will carry a maximum load which is equivalent to more than that of a 35 ton vehicle on any one span. Bridge actually designed to carry the worst possible combination of wheel loads which would be placed upon it.
